London, United Kingdom (AHN Entertainment) - Rumored Kate Middleton wedding gown designer Sophie Cranston has denied her role in the creation of the future princess' highly anticipated wardrobe. Fashion brand Libelula released a statement, denying the persistent rumors. Huffington Post reported in an exclusive story that Cranston, who founded the label after studying under Alexander McQueen and Alice Temperley, was chosen personally by Prince Williams' fiancée. Another report also alleged that Kate was actually designing the dress herself, but with help from Cranston. The rumor quickly spread, with some blogs noting Kate's preference to wear the British designer's creations. She was seen wearing a Libelula velvet dress coat to a friend's wedding in January. But Libelula is denying the rumors, saying in a statement obtained by WWD: "Libelula has a company policy of not commenting on any of the work they do for private clients, however due to the unprecedented media attention they would like to make the following statement: We are not designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress. We, like everyone else, can't wait to find out who is!" With Cranston out of the picture, insiders are now claiming that Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton is Kate's designer of choice. A source told Us magazine, "She's had several secret meetings, and staff are in the dark about her work right now." Kate's wedding gown will be unveiled on her wedding day on April 29. |
