Frances Bean Cobain Keeping Mom Courtney Love Away From Her

April 12, 2010 Courtney Love, Frances Bean Cobain

Courtney Love doesn't have to wait until daughter Frances Bean Cobain turns 18 before her lost in her guardianship and legal control becomes permanent. Frances was apparently victorious in keeping her mother from controlling her during a hearing Friday.

Cobain, Love's daughter from late rocker husband Kurt Cobain, was reportedly in downtown L.A. court last week to see the judge in her guardianship, TMZ reported.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge previously granted a request for guardianship, wrestling Love's parental control away from her because she was considered incapable of being a proper parent.

The 17-year-old rock heiress was granted an extension in the restraining order against her mother in February. It was supposed to end Friday, but since she was apparently spotted leaving the courtroom with a smile on her face, it could mean that she won't be able to see her mother anytime soon.

The court proceedings were not disclosed to the public. Cobain's grandmother on her father side, Wendy O'Connor, and her dad's sister, Kimberly Cobain, currently have her guardianship.

Cobain turns 18 on August 18 this year, which would mean Love's guardianship and parental control, with or without court permission, will automatically end.
