December 18, 2009

"Harry Potter" star Emma Watson has been named the Highest Grossing Actress of the decade by the Guinness World Records for starring in the six films of the successful franchise.

The 19-year-old actress was just 11 when the first installment, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," came out and earned her millions. After five sequels, she has managed to gross an average of $753.7 million each, the highest average box-office gross for an actress.

Watson, who was recently placed at sixth place on Forbes' list of Hollywood's Most Valuable Young Stars, earned around $16 million for her roles in the "Harry Potter" series. She will also be seen in the franchise's two final films in 2010 and 2011.

"Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling took the honor for Highest Earnings for a Children's Author with the franchise.

Watson's male counterpart is veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson, whose movies released in this decade have grossed a total of $7.42 billion. He has appeared in box office hits such as "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones," Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," as well as voicing the animated hit "The Incredibles."
