Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - We all know Gwen Stefani is quite the "Harajuku Lover," but she really showed her support for the recovery effort in Japan by donating $1 million to Save the Children's Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund. "I've been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture. The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help," Gwen Stefani said in a statement. "I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years," the singer, who's working on a new album with band No Doubt, added. Stefani has shown her support for Asian and Japanese culture, penning songs like "Harajuku Girls," hiring an all-Asian troupe of dancers, starting a Harajuku Lovers clothing line. Along with her personal donation, she's giving fans the chance to help in relief efforts as well, including an auction where fans will be able to win the chance to join Gwen at a special fundraiser in Los Angeles. She's also designed a limited edition Harajuku Lovers t-shirt with 100% of the proceeds to benefit Japan. The t-shirt will be available exclusively at nodoubt.com next week. |
