Gymnast Shawn Johnson Is America's Newest Sweetheart

Women's gymnast Shawn Johnson is America's next sweetheart. With her tiny but powerful body, her engaging smile and her oh-so-consistent ability to perform amazingly hard routines - Shawn is the new "it" girl in gymnastics.

Shawn, who at 16-years-old stands only 4 foot 9 inches, is the powerhouse behind team U.S.A.'s gymnastic team. She helped the women secure the team silver already and now has her sights set on individual medals.

Being the "it" girl of the Olympics comes with perks and challenges. Shawn appears on a Coca-Cola commercial, and apparently ran out of the grocery store the first time she spotted herself on a Coke advertisement.

Shawn, who is from Iowa, got the star treatment from her local car dealership when she turned 16 in January, receiving a red Land Rover LR2. She was also loaned a private jet by a local businessman and, just like a celebrity, has her every move followed by news reporters. Yes, she did wear a yellow dress to prom.

If the Beijing Olympics goes as planned for Shawn, her face will soon be everywhere. Fortunately for America, the face is cute, smiles a lot and makes us glad that Shawn is our new American sweetheart.
