Heather Mills Files Complaints Against U.K. Newspapers

November 20, 2008

Sir Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills is after the British press. The former model has filed complaints against four U.K. newspapers that she thinks have vilified her.

Mills, 40, reported the alleged injustices of three national newspapers - the Sun, the Daily Mail, and the Daily Express, as well as the local tabloid, London Lite - to the Press Complaints Commission. The nature of the complaints was not disclosed, but it touches on "various issues including privacy and accuracy."

The PCC confirms that an investigation has been launched and it could take up to 35 days to complete.

Mills, who was awarded around $40 million in the divorce settlement from the Beatles legend, was heavily criticized in the press. She had admitted in an interview in 2007 that she was suicidal after being labeled a "whore" and a "gold-digger."
