Hindu Statesman Rajan Zed Welcomes Julia Roberts To Hinduism

August 6, 2010 Julia Roberts, India, September

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed is welcoming Julia Roberts to Hinduism after the "Eat Pray Love" star revealed that she is practicing the religion. The four-time People magazine's Most Beautiful title holder says that her whole family is embracing the faith.

She told Elle magazine that she and her family - husband Daniel Moder, 5-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and 3-year-old Henry - go to the temple together to "chant and pray and celebrate. I'm definitely a practicing Hindu."

Zed, the president of Universal Society of Hinduism, said in a statement that he or other Hindu scholars would gladly help the actress if she needed help in deeper Hinduism exploration.

Reports suggested that Roberts, who was in India September last year to shoot her film, has been embracing the religion for quite some time now.

She has a production company she named Red Om Films, with "Om" in Hinduism meaning the mystical syllable containing the universe. She was also seen sporting a "bindi" in January while she was in India.

Her "Eat, Pray, Love" film will be released August 13.
