Detroit, MI, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Hip-hop producer Dr. Dre has won a lawsuit involving a former police official who claimed he was secretly being recorded during the rapper's 2000 "Up in Smoke" tour. Officials at Michigan Supreme Court sided with Dr. Dre Saturday and threw the case out. A group of Michigan authorities had filed a suit against the rapper, claiming they were secretly filmed as they banned organizers from showing a video featuring naked woman and violence at a concert in Detroit. A former police commander and several other authorities alleged that they were taped without their knowledge during a backstage conversation. The group said they realized later that they were featured in a DVD film about the tour. But Dr. Dre's attorney Herschel Fink argued that there is no privacy for police while they are performing their public duties. Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, was not present during the court's decision. Fink later told reporters he hoped the ruling would have dealt with the broader issue of privacy, but "as I said in an e-mail to Dre, 'We'll take it.'" The highly successful "Up in Smoke Tour" also featured rappers Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Eminem.
