Hugh Jackman is thrilled he didn't have to wear tights to play Wolverine. The Australian actor - who reprises his role as the mutant anti-hero in new movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" - is relieved he didn't have to don Spandex like many other actors who have brought to life comic book characters on the big screen. He said: "One of the blessings is that I don't have to wear Spandex. I think it's safe to say that me and yellow tights don't get on!" In the original Marvel comic book series, Wolverine - who has powers of physical regeneration and an adamantium metal skeleton - wore a bright yellow body suit. Jackman was required to build a muscular physique for the movie and recently admitted he pushed himself to the limit when he was training by pretending he was Wolverine. He said: "I work out imagining I'm Wolverine. Wolverine to me is the guy that when everybody else quits, that's where he begins. I think that's why people love him." The 40-year-old actor - who was named Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine last year - also revealed it took him a year to get in shape for the action-packed film and he had to completely overhaul his diet. He said: "I think we've wiped out entire gene pools of chickens. To any vegetarians out there, I really apologize." |
