Kaiser Chiefs' Songwriter Nick Hodgson Writes For Duran Duran

April 1, 2009

English indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs' drummer and songwriter Nick Hodgson has collaborated with Duran Duran for their new album. Hodgson was invited by producer Mark Ronson to write songs for the band.

Duran Duran is currently in the studio with Ronson, who is producing their upcoming studio effort.

"I called Nick a week ago and asked if he'd be interested in coming to work with Duran Duran and write a song" Ronson told NME magazine. Ronson also worked on the Kaiser Chiefs' last album "Off With Their Heads."

Ronson has compared the Kaiser Chiefs to Duran Duran, telling NME magazine, "There's a lot of Kaiser Chiefs songs I could imagine being on a Duran Duran record 25 years ago".

The producer says Hodgson worked with the band for "five or six hours" and they wrote three songs together out of which one is "quite rocky" and the other track is "more Italo disco."

The British press is reporting that the Leeds rock quintet will be calling it quits after touring in support of their third and latest album "Off With Their Heads". Also, frontman Ricky Wilson is apparently pondering a career in television.

Kaiser Chiefs perform at Fort Canning Park on April 7.
