Kate Winslet Happy To Be "Imperfect"

December 5, 2008

Kate Winslet is happy being "imperfect." "The Reader" actress - who recently appeared in a computer-improved sexy Vanity Fair magazine shoot - is finally comfortable with the way she looks and her curvaceous figure.

She said: "I'm happy with who I am. I have grown more comfortable in my own skin for all its marks and scars and imperfections."

"There's no such thing as perfect and I'm happy to be imperfect."

The star - who shot to fame after her role in 1997 blockbuster "Titanic" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio - wowed the crowd at the New York premiere of "The Reader" with her dramatically slimmed down figure Thursday night.

The 33-year-old - who is married to "American Beauty" director Sam Mendes - admitted she struggled with comments about her physique during the early stages of her career.

She said on the red carpet: "I had a rough ride in my early 20s. When I became aware of people talking about whether I was fat or thin it was hard and shocking and hurtful."

"The Reader" is released worldwide in January.
