Kesha's hit "Die Young" flops after the Newtown Massacre

Kesha's new hit "Die Young" has flopped after it was slowly pulled off air following the Newtown tragedy.

According to Mediabase, a company that tracks radio airplay, The hit was ranked third on the radio playlists on Friday, the day of the shooting and had reached 167 million listeners nationwide.

By Saturday, the single had however been dropped by three million listeners, meaning the radio stations were not airing it any more.

According to TMZ by Monday, the song took a huge hit on the radio,dropping to 148 million listeners, a 19 million drop from what had been a pretty steady rotation before the shooting.

A music expert told TMZ that a drop of this magnitude is extremely rare and the last time a song plummeted this quickly is when the Dixie Chicks were banned from country radio after insulting President Bush.
