It's official. After weeks of rumors circulating about "Laguna Beach" star Kristin Cavallari heading to "The Hills" and replacing Lauren Conrad, EW confirms that the 22-year-old will star on the MTV show's next season. In an interview with the actress, who is starring the upcoming DVD releases "Spring Breakdown" and "Van Wilder: Freshman Year," Cavallari doesn't pretend for a moment that the show is real and says she plans to shake things up.
"It's a TV show," she said. "I'm not going into it like, 'I'm going to make great friendships with these people.' It's work! And drama sells. I think that's why they're bringing me in, because I know what works."
Cavallari will first appear on the May 31st season finale and will have a 10-episode stint in the fall. She says her "Hills" will differ from current star Lauren Conrad, who she used to share screen-time with on "Laguna Beach." "I'm a completely different person than Lauren," she says. "I have a lot more energy. I'm more outgoing. I'm a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she's not dating on the show. I'm very open to dating and finding a guy."
Cavallari also says her new acting skills will help her with her return to "reality" television. "When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn't have the acting skills I have now," she says. "If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help."
