L.A. Galaxy Defends David Beckham's Celebrity Lifestyle

April 21, 2008

David Beckham is under fire from L.A. Galaxy fans claiming he spends too much time being a "celebrity" to concentrate on games, but the team defends their star player.

Beckham, who had been officially inducted to the California-based soccer team in July 2007, has been accused of spending too much time partying with his Hollywood friends with wife Victoria that he has not been giving enough time to focus on his games.

Fan leader Rick Cordillo has been quoted by showbizspy.com as saying, "He's spending more time on red carpets than he is on green grass - and what kind of example is he setting younger players with the team struggling the way it is?"

However, L.A. Galaxy bosses defend Beckham's lifestyles saying what he does outside team practices is his own business.

A spokesman for the team insists, "He's the first one on the training pitch and the last one off. What he does in his private life in no way reflects on the team."

"He's a major celebrity and he's bound to attract attention wherever he goes."

Beckham had moved with his family to Los Angeles last year inking a multi-million dollar deal. However, the team has yet to win many games.
