Leona Lewis Doesn't Return Katy Perry's Girl Crush

November 5, 2008

Leona Lewis doesn't have girl crushes "that often."

Despite saying she was flattered by "I Kissed A Girl" singer Katy Perry's comments that she was "obsessed" with her, the "Bleeding Love" singer insists the feeling isn't mutual.

Leona said: "It's very flattering. Katy came to one of my shows in Los Angeles. She was really funny and lovely."

"I don't really have girl crushes that often. I probably had people who I admire but I don't know about a crush in that sort of way."

Meanwhile, Leona Lewis' mentor Simon Cowell has been left fuming after his proposed new single for the British star was given to Beyonce Knowles instead.

The music mogul had lined up "Halo," penned by One Republic's Ryan Tedder - who also wrote "Bleeding Love" with Jesse McCartney - as the first single from Leona's next album but Ryan decided to hand it over to the "Crazy in Love" star after Leona failed to find the time to record it.

A source revealed to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Simon is annoyed. He wanted 'Halo' for Leona. It's a shame but I'm sure Leona will work with Ryan again."

A spokesperson for Leona's record label, SonyBMG said: "Unfortunately Leona's schedule didn't enable her to record this track."
