"Billy Elliot" Dominates Tony Awards With 10 Wins

"Billy Elliot" has scored an astounding 10 Tony Awards at the awards show's ceremony in New York on Sunday. The musical took home the Best Musical prize along with Best Actor for its three actors sharing the title role.

David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish, who all share the lead role in "Billy Elliot, The Musical," have been named Best Lead Actor in a Musical, while Gregory Jbara gathered the Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Director Stephen Daldry won Best Direction of a Musical, and the whole play won Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical at the awards show at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on Sunday.

Also a big winner at the event was "God of Carnage," which took home the Best Play prize, as well as Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for Marcia Gay Harden and Best Direction of a Play for Matthew Warchus.

Natasha Richardson, who died earlier this year after a ski accident, was singled out in the show's In Memoriam section.

The 63rd Tony Awards ceremony was hosted by "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris.
