Comedian David Spade has stopped by a police station in his former hometown to donate $100,000. He presented the check to the Phoenix Police Department to help them purchase new rifles.
When the 44-year-old actor heard that some local cops had to pay for their own guns, he decided to help out the officers purchase about 50 AR-15 rifles.
The police department said in a statement, "Asking there be no fanfare or media attention, Mr. Spade called last week and said he wanted to donate $100,000 to the Phoenix Police Department towards the purchase of rifles to help keep our patrol officers and community safe."
"This mutual agreement can now move ahead with momentum thanks to the generosity of Mr. Spade."
This is not the first time Spade has donated to his home state. He also gave $10,000 to the Humane Society of the White Mountains in Lakeside in August on top of the other contributions he made last year to his alma mater and to the family of a slain officer.
