Marilyn Monroe's photographs have earned nearly $150,000. A collection of the late blonde beauty's photographs for Vogue magazine taken the year she died has been sold in New York.

According to auction house Christie's, the 36 images by photographer Bert Stern in 1962 has been sold for $146,500 to an anonymous buyer on Tuesday.

Vogue was about to publish the pictures in September when Monroe died. The photographs were printed as a memorial tribute to the actress instead.

The images are among the over a hundred images of the actress that are being offered for sale at the Icons of Glamour and Style auction. Christie's will continue to sell the remaining photos.

Monroe died at the age of 36 in August 1962. Her death was recorded as a "probable suicide."
