"Rockferry" hitmaker Duffy's Diet Coke commercial has been allowed to air by U.K.'s advertising watchdog. Advertising Standards Authority has decided not to ban the ad, wherein the Welsh singer was seen bicycling without protective gear.

The one-minute commercial features Duffy as she goes out in the night during a break in her concert and rides a bicycle on the streets and into a supermarket without reflective clothing or lights on her ride before returning in time to her show. It prompted 22 complaints filed to ASA.

According to UTalkMarketing.com, 18 people complained that the singer disregarded health and safety for shunning protective clothing and gear, while 4 were concerned that kids might copy her actions.

Coca-Cola Great Britain defends the ad, which was made by agency Mother, was meant to be the 24-year-old Grammy and BRIT Award-winning singer's fantasy and would not be possible in real life. They added that the ad was not targeted for children but for female viewers 20 years old and upwards.

The beverage giant also said that they had taken on board current Highway Code regulations and health and safety advice from Clearcast, which pre-approves most British TV adverts.

ASA agreed to the defense, saying the sudden transition from a loud concert to Duffy's dreamy vocal singing in the ad indicated that the bicycling sequence was a fantasy, and that it was unlikely to appeal to young children.
