Lil Wayne Facing $2.5 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit For "Mrs. Officer"

Lil Wayne is facing yet another legal problem. The 27-year-old rapper, who is expected to face a jail sentence next month, is hit with a $2.5 million copyright infringement lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit obtained by AllHipHop.com, Wayne's single, "Mrs. Officer," was produced by Darius "Deezle" Harrison, who claims he owns the rights to the song, including the profits it had made.

The 2008 track, which also featured Bobby Valentino and Kidd Kidd, peaked at no. 2 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart. It was taken from the album "Tha Carter III," which sold over a million copies during the firs week of its release.

The Royalty Network, which collects royalties for songwriters and music publishers, filed the suit in Manhattan Federal Court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Wayne is scheduled to be formally sentenced by a judge and begin serving his one-year jail sentence for attempted weapons possession charge on March 2 of last year. He was supposed to be sentenced earlier this month, but the hearing had been delayed because he was set to undergo dental surgery in Miami.
