Mario Lopez And Dancing Partner Karina Smirnoff Split

The dance is over for Karina Smirnoff and Mario Lopez. The couple, who met on the set of "Dancing With the Stars," have called it quits.

Smirnoff's rep confirmed the breakup, saying, "Karina has parted ways with her two year relationship with Mario Lopez. The relationship wasn't heading in the right direction."

Lopez also issued a statement through his rep saying, "Karina and I have the utmost respect for each other. She is a phenomenal and talented woman. I support her always and feel blessed to have her in my life."

The couple began dating in 2006 when they were paired together for the third season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

They remained quiet about their relationship during the past two years, however, they were spotted vacationing together in Mexico shortly after coming in second on the dancing reality show. The following May, Lopez and Smirnoff moved in together.

As recently as this April, Smirnoff shot down reports that the couple had split. At the time, she said they were going strong.
