Actor Martin Short and his late wife, Nancy, who lost her battle with cancer last year, will be honored by the Women's Cancer Research Fund. Short will collect a "Courage Award" on her behalf during the organization's annual "Unforgetable Evening" fundraising dinner on Thursday at the Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel. Married for 30 years, the comedian's wife battled cancer for three years before losing her life to the illness last August. Golden Globe winner Annette Bening will also be honored with the "Nat King Cole Award" for her charity work. Grammy winner Rihanna is set to perform, Late night talk show host Conan O'Brien will host the event, which will mark the 15th anniversary of the organization that raises support for innovative cancer research. Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson, as well as Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw, are honorary chairmen on the organization. |
