Mel Gibson is going to Guatemala to save the rainforest. The "Mad Max" star is leaving for the Central American nation this week on a long-planned charity trip, which could mean that he will be out of the country when he gets charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.

The purpose of the charity trip is associated with the campaign to save the rainforest in the country, according to TMZ sources. Mel had made the commitment several months ago.

And because the District Attorney's office is expected to charge the actor with domestic violence this week, Mel will likely be out of the country what that happens.
