Mena Suvari to pay $17k a month spousal support

May 14, 2012 Mena Suvari

Mena Suvari will soon be walking in the corridors of justice to fight her estranged husband Simone Sestito after he filed documents asking her to pay him a whopping $17,151 a month spousal support. He is making her pay him a huge amount of money for ending their 18 months marriage.

Suvari met Sestito, a concert promoter in 2007 at a Toronto International Film Festival and the pair got engaged in 2008 in Jamaica. They got married in 2010 in Rome as his family lives near the city. On January 13th,Suvari filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences.

Sestito told the judge that he doesn’t make as much money as his soon to be ex-wife, and therefore she should be able to support him. He said Suvari makes around $750k a month yet his account is in negatives. He admitted that he has been using credit cards and loans from his parents to make ends meet.

Sestito, an Italian-Canadian concert promoter said he has gotten used to eating out almost every day at high end restaurants therefore he’d never manage without support. He said his expenditure on food could reach $3,000 a month.

Suvari has moved to block Sestito from receiving a cent from the divorce petition she filed in January. Her lawyer, Mark Gross feels like Simone is trying to get sympathy by going public with the situation. He said “It is unfortunate that Simone has chosen the spotlight over the privacy of mediation.

On her part, Suvari said she will put her own happiness first. “There are many reasons why things don’t work out and I think at some point you have to acknowledge that and work towards maintaining your own happiness”. She added that at a point like this it is better to surround yourself with people who love you and want the best for you.
