Meryl Streep wanted to marry Britain's Prince Charles. The "Mamma Mia" star spent her childhood wishing the Prince of Wales would whisk her away to live happily ever after, but is glad her dreams didn't come true. The 60-year-old actress revealed: "When I was a kid I wanted to be a princess and marry Prince Charles." "When I met him I told him about it and said I was sorry it didn't work out between us. But I'm not really sorry." Meryl has been married to artist Don Gummer since 1978. She's not the only beautiful actress to admire Charles. Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty met the prince in London earlier this year and admits she was bowled over by the royal. She wrote on her blog: "I must say Prince Charles still has such a sparkle in his eyes, so charming, he had a conversation with everyone in the room." "I have been very lucky to have met almost all the heads of state in Britain right from the Queen to Tony Blair and now His Highness Prince Charles. I can't believe it!" |
