In a pre-recorded interview that is set to air Tuesday on the "Today" show, Michael Douglas tells Matt Lauer that he feels "good" and announced that "the tumor is gone."

The veteran actor, who appeared in his first interview since undergoing throat cancer treatment, told the host that it's been "a wild six-month ride," according to USA Today.

"I feel good, relieved. The tumor is gone. But, you know, I have to check out on a monthly basis now to maintain. I guess there's not a total euphoria. I'll probably take a couple of months of getting checked out. But it's been a wild six-month ride."

Douglas explained that one of the side effects he's had to endure is that his "salivary ducts have been closed down as a result of the radiation…so your mouth is very dry."

The Academy-Award winner, who is married to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and have two children together, revealed they recently celebrated the big news.

"We've had a big celebration these last couple of days when I found out the tumor was gone," Douglas said.

When asked if he's looking forwards to getting back to work, the 66-year-old replied, "Yeah, oh, absolutely. I think the odds are with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer that I've got it beat."

The interview will air again on "Dateline NBC" on Jan. 23.
