Michelle Pfeiffer in talks to star in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" film

Michelle Pfeiffer is reportedly director Tim Burton's pick to star in his forthcoming movie "Dark Shadows."

The 52-year-old actress, who worked with Burton on the 1992 hit film "Batman Returns," is in talks with the director to play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard in the revised 1960's vampire television soap opera of the same name, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Johnny Depp has already been cast as Barnabas Collins, a vampire in Maine who's searches for a lost love. Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter has also been picked to play Dr. Julia Hoffman, who helps Barnabas cure his thirst for blood.

Feiffer's character is the family's matriarch who has become a recluse in her mansion since the disappearance of her husband 10 years before.

The movie, which is tentatively scheduled for a 2012 release, will also star Jackie Earle Haley, former Bond Girl Eva Green and Bella Heathcote.

If Pfeiffer takes the role, she'll have to wait until she's done working on the highly-anticipated "New Years Eve," which she co-stars with Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara.
