Michelle Williams is determined not to let her daughter become a child star. The "Brokeback Mountain" actress doesn't want three-year-old Matilda - whose father Heath Ledger died of an accidental drug overdose in January 2008 - to follow in her footsteps and try and make it as an actress from a young age.
Michelle, who left home at 15 to move to Los Angeles, said: "There's a really dark undercurrent that comes from desperation when people are chasing something and people are preying on people chasing something. I was surviving from job to job, doing commercials and the grind of auditions and rejections. I wouldn't recommend it for your kid or mine."
Michelle says looking back she can't believe she left home at such a tender age to move to the entertainment capital of the world.
The 28-year-old star - who shot to fame in 1998 playing Jen Lindley in teen drama "Dawson's Creek" - told Britain's Observer Magazine: "I don't know how I wound up there. I really don't. My dad supported it and my mom, like anyone's mom, it was really hard for her. But my dad always had the final say. I can't believe I'm the same person now. You start to feel old when you've had so many lives."
