Mickey Rooney granted restraining order against stepson

February 16, 2011 Rooney

Veteran actor Mickey Rooney has been granted a restraining order against his step son who he claims has been threatening, intimidating, and harassing him. The 90-year-old "A Family Affair" star claims Christopher Aber, 52, is coercing him to sign over his assets to him.

Aber is the son of Rooney's eighth and current wife Jan Chamberlin, whom he married in 1978. He is allegedly abusive towards the multi-award-winning actor in a bid to coerce him into signing over his money.

Apparently, the stepson has deprived the aging actor of medication and food and has confiscated his passport and other identification cards, effectively rendering him a prisoner in his home.

According to Rooney's petition, obtained by TMZ, "Mickey is extremely fearful that Chris will become physically threatening against Mickey and may even attempt to kidnap Mickey from his home."

Rooney also accuses his stepson of forcing him to make personal appearances and sign financial documents without reading them.

Aber and his wife are now ordered to stay 100 yards away from the actor.

Rooney has also asked a judge to appoint a temporary conservator to protect his assets. His lawyer now serves as his conservator, as assigned by the judge.
