Mike Tyson "In Denial" Over Daughter's Death

August 14, 2009

Mike Tyson is "in denial" over the death of his daughter. The former world champion boxer - whose four-year-old daughter Exodus died following an accident at her mother's home in May - is struggling to come to terms with his loss, and has no idea how he will move on.

He said: "I'm going through a process and trying to heal. I am in denial, because I don't know how to handle it, I don't know what to do or say."

Mike, 43, admits he blames himself for the incident, but has found solace in the comments he has received from well-wishers.

He explained to US TV show 'Entertainment Tonight': "It was a dark moment in my life. I've been beating myself up over my daughter."

"I am working with dealing with it. I have become a member of an exclusive club no one wants to join. I have been told the pain never stops but you get over it."

Exodus died after accidentally tying a cord from an exercise machine around her neck while playing at her mother Monica's Arizona house.

Mike - who has six other children - went on to marry his girlfriend Lakiha Spicer in Las Vegas in June, but kept the nuptials private.
