Alexandra Burke is set to launch her career in the U.S. with help from Whitney Houston's mentor. The British singer was left "shocked" when Clive Davis - the music mogul who helped pop stars Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and Whitney rise to fame - praised her musical talent and promised to help her become a success Stateside.

A source said: "Alexandra was celebrating her number one record with friends and family. She got a huge shock when Clive appeared and said he thinks she's the future of pop music."

The 21-year-old beauty - who hit the top of the U.K. singles chart with latest track "Bad Boys" last week - was enjoying a luxury dinner with loved-ones when she ran into the music executive in exclusive London restaurant Cipriani.

Clive introduced himself to the pop star and promised to help her any way he could.

The source added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Clive may even get her to sing at his pre-Grammys party - it would be massive exposure given that the who's who of the music world are attending."

Clive is not the only music mogul who is helping Alexandra's career.

Since winning TV talent show "The X Factor" last year, she has been managed by show judge Simon Cowell.
