Former Wilco member Jay Bennett is suing the band's singer Jeff Tweedy for at least $50,000 for unpaid royalties. Bennett claims the band owes him royalties for songs, as well as his part in a 2002 documentary about the band.

Bennett, a sound engineer played instruments with the rock group from 1994 to 2001, played various instruments on the albums "Being There," "Summerteeth," "Mermaid Avenue," "Mermaid Avenue Vol. II," and "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

Bennett also claims he was not paid for appearing in the documentary "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" adding he did not sign a release form to appear.

According to court papers that Bennett filed in Chicago, he received only "infrequent impartial payments" for his work, amounting to 15 percent of Wilco's revenues.

He also argued he is entitled to continuing royalty payments for work he carried out during his time in the band.

"Bennett is entitled to compensation for his services rendered in the form of continuing and perpetual artist royalty payments from Tweedy," court papers stated, according to BBC.
