Mariah Carey hopes "Obsessed" will be an anthem for stalked and abused people. The 40-year-old singer, whose recent track is believed to be about her former relationship with rapper Eminem, has denied the single was based on their romance but believes it has healing qualities. She said: "I wouldn't ever call anyone an inspiration for that song. But I'm happy all the people who have been stalked and abused now have an anthem." The single's music video shows Mariah apparently dressed up as Eminem, in which she said he was "delusional" for hinting they had slept together in his track "Bagpipes from Baghdad." Mariah - who is married to actor-and-rapper Nick Cannon - says her new LP "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" sounds as though her previous 11 studio albums have been put through a "blender." She explained to the USA Today newspaper: "There are songs on there that are just saying to men, 'I don't need you.' It was going to be about women's empowerment." "There's a little bit of almost every album I've done on this new one. It's like I put everything in a blender and made drinks for my friends. They're festive drinks, though some are bittersweet. I'm at such a good place in my life, and that allows me to be honest. And to enjoy things." Article © AHN - All Rights Reserved |
