Miley Cyrus Drops Bret Michaels Cover Following Affair Reports

November 22, 2010 11:56 am CST

Miley Cyrus was set to perform her cover of Bret Michaels' Poison hit "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" on Sunday night's "American Music Awards," but dropped the song at the last minute after reports of her mom Tish Cyrus' alleged affair with the "Rock of Love" star.

Cyrus' cover of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" is featured on her latest album, "Can't Be Tamed." According to TMZ, the AMAs setlist had included the track until the Thursday before the show, while other reports say Cyrus changed her mind about two weeks before the show.

"Every Rose Has Its Thorn," which was written by Michaels back in 1988, was also slated to be the next single off Miley's album. Those plans have been dropped as well.

Cyrus instead sang another track off her album, titled "Forgiveness and Love," whose lyrics seemed even more fitting considering the reports. "'Cause in the end no one loses or wins / The story begins again and again / With forgiveness and love," she sings.

Mom Tish was in the audience and was flying solo. Father Billy Ray Cyrus was nowhere to be seen. They filed for divorce in October after 17 years of marriage.

The reports of the affair have been denied by both Tish and Bret Michael's reps. "There has never been an affair or a fling," Michaels' rep said.
