If you can't remember the feathered hair styles of the '80s, all you will have to do now is look at musician John Mayer's hair. Mayer reported on his blog Thursday morning that he is embarking on a new project, and it isn't a musical one.
The 30-year-old musician's goal is to have an awesome '80s hair-do. He wrote on his blog: "Today I set off on my newest project; to grow and maintain an authentic '80s style feathered haircut. It's something I've wanted to do for some time and I'm very excited to bring this amazing look into today's pop culture landscape. The feathered cut projects an attitude of ease and quiet confidence that seems to have all but eluded our generation."
Mayer went on to post pictures on his blog of hairstyle trend-setters from the '80s including Michael J. Fox, who he calls "The Master," and Shaun Cassidy who he describes as "the One With the Better Hair."
He also posts a photo of Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton, but apparently his goal is to have hair like actress Kristy McNichol, who Mayer claims is "the Goal Personified."
Mayer ended his blog by saying, "This is a work in progress, and as my hair grows longer it will serve to become a more stirring and poignant statement."
