Nicolas Cage bailed out of jail by Dog the Bounty Hunter

April 18, 2011 Nicolas Cage, Duane Chapman

New Orleans, LA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Cash-strapped Nicolas Cage has been saved by Dog the Bounty Hunter. The reality star posted the "National Treasure" star's $11,000 bond after Cage was arrested on domestic violence charges in New Orleans Saturday morning.

Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman, explained his action to E! in a statement, "Media from around the world have been requesting interviews with me today after reports surfaced about my posting a bond for actor Nicolas Cage in New Orleans."

"I am a truly dedicated fan of Mr. Cage and will not be granting any interviews about my client as I wish to respect his privacy. I performed my duties as a bail bondsman and not in connection with our show. This is what I do for a living. There are two side of my job: I release my clients after they have been arrested; and pick them up if they don't show up in court."

"I do not believe the latter will be the case for Mr. Cage."

Cage was arrested at 6:33 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace, and public drunkenness after he was seen having a loud argument with his wife Alice on the street.

According to TMZ sources, Cage was even taunting police into arresting him. The cops apparently came and told the actor and his wife to just go home, but Cage told the cops: "Why don't you just arrest me?"

The cops reiterated that they should just go home, but Cage repeated his dare cops so they complied and took him into custody.
