Operation Smile To Honor Harrison Ford And John Stamos In Los Angeles

The worldwide children's medical charity Operation Smile will be honoring some special celebrities on September 24.

The 9th annual Smile Gala in Los Angeles will honor Harrison Ford, John Stamos and Susan Casden at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. "Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush will host the event, while the members from the cast of "Glee" are expected to wow the crowd with a special performance.

Harrison Ford will receive the John Connor Humanitarian Service Award, which is presented to those who have demonstrated their concern and love for their fellow man through their actions and deeds.

In February 2010, Ford volunteered his time, piloting skills and airplane in response to an urgent request from Operation Smile. The charity needed logistical support after the organization announced it was sending additional teams and almost three tons of medical supplies across three locations in Haiti. Ford made several trips over a two-day period to a remote dirt landing strip in Haiti and delivered a team of Operation Smile volunteers along with critical medical supplies.

John Stamos will be presented with the Universal Smile Award for his current project for Lifetime titled "Safe Haven." The movie based on a charity Project Cuddle for which Stamos is National Spokesperson and Chairman of the Advisory Board.

Philanthropist and long-time Operation Smile supporter Susan Casden will receive the Wallis Annenberg Public Service Award. In 1991, Casden participated in Operation Smile's inaugural mission to China and took part in a mission to Cebu, Philippines earlier this year.

The Smile Gala event is co-chaired by Dayna and Steven Bochco, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, Vicky and Raphael Mense, Kelly and Ron Meyer, Ryan Murphy, Jennifer Nicholson-Salke, and Leslie and Robert Zemeckis.
