Paul McCartney Performs In Front Of Biggest Kiev Crowd Despite Bad Weather

June 16, 2008

Beatle legend Sir Paul McCartney has made the day of 350,000 people after he played at the biggest crowd Ukraine had ever witnessed despite the bad weather on Saturday.

Although the weather gave the crowd heavy downpour with thunder and lightning, the 65-year-old music icon gave the crowd the free concert they deserved.

The free Independence Concert was organized by Ukrainian billionaire Viktor Pinchuk and was broadcast on television across the country. It aimed to unite the country split between the pro-Western central and west and pro-Russian south-eastern regions.

McCartney's performance included renditions of "Back In The U.S.S.R.," "Drive My Car," "Hey Jude," and "Let It Be."

He told the drenched crowd, "It's great to be here. Thank you for coming out in the rain."
