Paul McCartney survived a near-fatal Helicopter crush in May

Singer Paul McCartney and his wife .com/celebs3/nancy_shevell'>Nancy Shevell survived a helicopter crush in May as they were headed to their East Sussex home. The former .com/celebs/beatles'>Beatles band member and his wife had just attended his daughter’s book launch in the West End when the incidence happened.

Although the details of the incidence had never been released, reports inform that the pilot of the ill –fated chartered nine-seater chopper failed to land on a helipad surrounded by woodland at their estate. The pilot of the chopper failed to see due to low cloud base, poor visibility and rain.

According to reports the helicopter was close to crushing on the tree-lushed area which could consequently have caused a fatal crush. Fortunately, the pilot was able to pull the helicopter away from the tree tops diverting it to Lydd Airport in Kent, which is 15 miles from McCartney’s house.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch categorized it a serious incidence and has launched an investigation into the incidence because the decision to maneuver the helicopter in such pressure was very risky despite the fact that the machine landed safely.

Sir Paul’s representative said he has been spoken to as the investigation goes on but has no comment at the moment. A representative for Air Harrods informed The Mail that indeed an investigation is going on.
