Penelope Cruz Keeps Mum About Engagement Rumors

Penelope Cruz still won't confirm or deny the engagement rumor that's been following her since wearing a sapphire and diamond ring last month. The Spanish beauty dodged David Letterman's probing during a "Late Show" appearance Tuesday.

Cruz, who has been dating fellow Spanish actor Javier Bardem since 2007, was asked by the late night show host if she's engaged to the 40-year-old actor.

She answered, "I don't feel comfortable talking about my private life in public."

And when pressed for an answer, Cruz good-naturedly answered, "I've been here a few times with you, you know I'm tough. One thing I don't do do, I don't lie about my personal life. It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I'm allergic to that."

Cruz and Bardem have appeared together in the dramedy film "Jamon, Jamon" in 1992, "Live Flesh" in 1997, and in the 2008 multi-award winning film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
