Prince Charles Surprises Troubled Teens By Behaving Like A "Normal Person"

Britain's Prince Charles surprised troubled teenagers Tuesday by behaving like "a normal person." The future king visited "at-risk" youngsters in Lincolnshire, north England, shocking them with his down-to-earth demeanor.

Hayden Fletcher, 16, couldn't believe how jovial and relaxed Charles was.

He said: "It's my first time meeting a member of the Royal Family. He's the future king of England and that's great for him but I just kept relaxed and it was just like meeting any normal person."

The prince visited Hill Holt Wood social enterprise, a charitable project that educates and trains youths who have been excluded from school. The site includes a woodworking area where teenagers are taught traditional woodcraft skills.

The organization's CEO Karen Lowthrop was thrilled by the royal visit.

She said: "This is validation for us. In the economic downturn I think it's important the third sector is not overlooked. People call them 'hard to reach'; I say they are hardly reached."

"By social deprivation a lot of them have not had a connection with anything before. What they have here is a connection. We plant trees, we feed and water them and they blossom and grow. We put that idea into the young people who come here."

During his visit Charles met rangers and young people involved in the project and planted a tree before telling charity staff they needed "a bit of blood, bone and meal."

The prince also visited a local blacksmith, church and Quaker Meeting House, followed by a large crowd of adults, children and dogs.
