Princess Beatrice Surprises With High Street Outfit

June 17, 2009

Britain's Princess Beatrice surprised fellow racegoers at Royal Ascot Tuesday by wearing an outfit from the high street. Despite being a member of one of the world's richest families, the 20-year-old royal wore a forest green dress with a Ł90 [$145] Kate Moss for Topshop jacket and a Ł65 [$105] pair of two-tone shoes from Office.

Beatrice - daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson - also suffered the humiliation of another racegoer wearing an identical Phillip Treacy hat.

Other members of the royal family to attend the prestigious five-day event included The Countess of Wessex, who was dressed in a monochrome dress and black accessories and Princess Anne, who was wearing burnt orange.

Anne appeared to be getting on well with sister-in-law Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and while the rest of their party took their seats in the royal box for the first race, the two women stayed in the parade ring, talking about the horses racing.

Although Camilla was wearing a pale gold dress and stripped fawn coat by designer Vivienne Westwood she hasn't been so keen to splash out on new outfits for previous events.

Camilla - who is married to Prince Charles - attended this week's Order of the Garter ceremony in the Philip Treacy hat she wore to her 2005 wedding to Charles.

She also wore the LK Bennett beige suede shoes she donned for the marriage at Windsor's Guildhall four years ago.
