Radical Militant Anti-Abortion Activist Jailed For Making Death Threats Against Elton John

March 12, 2010 Elton John

A pro-life activist has been arrested for making death threats against music superstar Elton John. Neal Horsley, a gubernatorial candidate from Carrollton, GA, was taken into custody for attacking the singer with his "Why Elton John Must Die" Internet piece.

John recently gave a controversial interview with Parade magazine, saying he believes Jesus Christ was a gay man.

This prompted the 65-year-old activist to make an online video. The footage posted on YouTube shows him protesting outside John's Peachtree Road condominium with the sign that reads "Elton John Must Die."

He was booked into the Fulton County Jail and charged with terroristic threats, criminal defamation and using the Internet to disseminate threats, according to Atlanta Journal Constitution.

His bond is set at $40,000. Once he is released from jail, he must remain at the home of his son, Nathanael Horsley, who also acts as his attorney.

The elder Horsley has operated Internet sites that list the names of doctors performing abortions for several years. The sites have links to online cams that show patients entering abortion clinics.

In 2002, a federal appeals court ruled that one of his Websites that condemned abortion doctors can be held liable in civil suit because it didn't amount to free speech anymore, but illegal threats.
