Richie Sambora Could Face Child Endangerment Charge

April 14, 2008

Richie Sambora is in danger of being served a child endangerment charge. Laguna Beach police have requested two charges against him for DUI while minors are in the car.

Sambora was arrested on March 25 for driving under the influence after being pulled over by the police. He was said to be driving erratically in his black Hummer. It was found out that a female companion and two minors were with him during the incident.

The Laguna Beach PD's request for one misdemeanor charge of DUI and one for child endangerment has not yet been finalized.

Jason Kravetz from the department explains to Usmagazine.com, "All that [this] means is the police department has requested these charges against him and it was sent over to the districts attorney's office. It does not mean that he is officially charged, the DA has the final decision on that."

The county's DA spokeswoman Farrah Emami adds, "The Laguna Beach Police Department has submitted a case to us for review and at this time we're reviewing that case to determine which charges, if any are appropriate."

Sambora's companions during the arrest were his girlfriend, Jenn Mallini, his 10-year-old daughter Ava from ex-wife Heather Locklear, and her teenage cousin.

He is due to appear in court on May 7.
