Rihanna draws fire for new "Man Down" music video

June 1, 2011 Britney Spears, Rihanna, Chris Brown

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - In her music video for new single "Man Down," Rihanna opens fire in a crowded train station. Now, she's drawing fire from the Parents Television Council for the second time in just weeks.

The video premiered on Tuesday and its already become her most controversial clip yet. She's shown tearfully gunning down a man, who we later discover through flashbacks was responsible for her rape.

According to TMZ, the group writes that Rihanna is involved in a "cold, calculated execution of murder" in the video and they're outraged that she may be suggesting that murder is an appropriate justice for the crime, especially after she tweeted her millions of fans that the video has a "a very strong underlying message 4 girls like me."

But the Parents Television Council, which just slammed Rihanna and Britney Spears for their sexed-up performance of "S&M" at the Billboard Music Awards last month, is taking aim at Rihanna for that message and at BET for airing it. The video premiered during the network's popular countdown show "106 & Park."

"If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop," the group said in their posting. "Rihanna should not get a pass."
