Robert Downey Jr. "Cursing" Director Guy Ritchie For Forcing Him To Wear Platform-Heeled Shoes In "Sherlock Holmes"

Robert Downey Jr. is "cursing" after being forced to wear platform-heeled shoes in his new movie. The "Iron Man" star is said to be struggling to walk in the elevated footwear, after "Sherlock Holmes" director Guy Ritchie insisted he is the same height as co-star Jude Law in their scenes together.

A source close to the actor, who plays the title character in the British detective movie, told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Robert is stumbling around a lot and cursing Guy over the silly shoes."

Robert - who at 5 feet 9 inches is two inches shorter than Jude - plays the titular detective in the forthcoming adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic tale, with "Alfie" star Jude playing his sidekick Doctor Watson.

Robert, 43, was recently reported to be making life difficult for runners on set after he requested an array of luxury items, despite shooting in remote locations.

A source said: "Robert had one crew member running around like a headless chicken trying to find a straw. The poor guy was stressing as they were in the middle of nowhere on an old dockyard, so there was hardly a store nearby."

During the shoot, Robert has accidentally set his crotch on fire and was knocked unconscious after being punched by a stuntman, which required six stitches.

"Sherlock Holmes" - which is directed by Guy Ritchie and also stars Jude Law - is due for release in November 2009.
