Ronan Keating speaks for the first about his marriage break-up

Boyzone star Ronan Keating and his wife Yvonne Connolly last month ended their 14 year marriage and they had remained silent about the turn of events. The couple has three children,Jack,13,Marie,11 and Ali, six.

Today, Ronan has spoken about for the first time about the break-up saying his children gave him strength to get through the tough times. He said they would lift his spirits when he spoke to then at any time of the day. He said “my children are my light”.

Ronan and Yvonne’s marriage looked like it could survive the turbulences’ of life. The couple had announced that they were splitting, back in 2010 when old skeletons of Ronan’s affair with dancer Francine Cornell emerged. They decided to give it another change, but it never worked.

Ronan last month tweeted that his marriage was no more. He said “Sadly our news is true. Thank you for your support. Yvonne and I still love and care for each other and want to protect our kids”.

The 35 year old has said in one of his songs that the children are doing great, and that he and his wife will try to keep things normal around them.

When asked about joint custody, Ronan said it is like running a relay race. He has to take turns when it comes to spending time with the children.

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival during the launch of his first movie ‘Goddess’ the singer says his life has turned out just like the movie, in which the husband and wife juggle between children and careers.

Ronan said “I have been through a strange three years of my life. My wife and I separated and I have just been writing ad it’s come out. You can reflect on what has happened in your life and write”.
