Rosie O'Donnell's Sun Comments Branded "Irresponsible" By Skin Cancer Group

December 8, 2009

Rosie O'Donnell has irked another group. The opinionated former "The View" host set off supporters of skin cancer group, Ray Festa Melanoma Foundation, for saying "exposure to the sun isn't dangerous."

The 47-year-old actress told host Rachael Ray earlier this month that she "lives to tan," and stated that one should not be afraid of exposure to the sun.

But the Ray Festa group, which aims to educate on the importance of early detection and prevention of skin cancer, thinks O'Donnell's comments are "ill-informed" and "irresponsible."

According to the New York Post, it wants the "A League Of Their Own" star to do a public service announcement and retract her statements.

No word yet if O'Donnell would do it.
