Russell Brand Prepares For "Pirates Of The Caribbean 4" Film Role By Dressing As A Pirate Everyday

November 20, 2008

Russell Brand has been "dressing as a pirate every day" to get into character for the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.

The British comic star - who has previously starred in movies including "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and the upcoming "Bedtime Stories" - is doing everything he can to secure the part of Johnny Depp's on-screen brother in the fourth film in the franchise.

Speaking about the role, Russell is quoted as saying: "That would be really exciting if that does happen. I hope it does. There has been some talk about it but I think it's in its very early days. But I'm practicing by dressing as a pirate every day - just in case!"

It was recently revealed that Johnny will earn $47 million for appearing as Captain Jack Sparrow in the new movie, the largest upfront payment in film history.

A source said: "It's a hell of a lot of money for one movie but there's only one man who can play Captain Jack, and that's Johnny Depp."

"Pirates just wouldn't be the same without him, so they were more than willing to smash the record books to land Depp again. He's been the star of the show every time."

Johnny appeared alongside Rolling Stones star Keith Richards as his on-screen father in the most recent movie.

Johnny's co-stars in the first three films in the franchise, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, are unlikely to appear in the latest installment.
