Ryan O'Neal says Farrah Fawcett is now in a "better place." The former "Charlie's Angels" actress lost her fight against anal cancer Thursday and her actor fiance is relieved she is no longer in pain. He said: "She's gone. She now belongs to the ages. She's now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She's in a better place now." Ryan was with Farrah when she died at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica along with her best friend Alana Stewart. Alana said: "There are no words to express the deep sense of loss that I feel. For 30 years Farrah was much more than a friend, she was my sister, and although I will miss her terribly, I know in my heart that she will always be there as that angel on the shoulder of everyone who loved her." Farrah's ex-husband Lee Majors also spoke of his upset over her death, saying: "She fought a tremendous battle against a terrible disease. She was an angel on earth and now an angel forever." The 62-year-old star's former assistant Mike Pingel has revealed how she fought for her life until the very end. Talking about when Farrah was first diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Mike said: "I just gave her a huge hug. I told her she'll be fine and wiped away some tears. Farrah just said, 'OK, let's do it. Let's get this out of me.' She fought really hard." Farrah and Ryan's son Redmond - who is currently in California's Pitchness Detention Center for rehab for drug addiction - is said to be "devastated" by his mother's death after having the news broken to him. Redmond, who had not seen his mother since April, will be allowed to attend her funeral after commissioner Jane Godfrey signed off on an order. Redmond's sister, actress Tatum O'Neal, has also spoke of her grief at the loss of her father's long-term partner. She said: "I am truly heartbroken of Farrah's passing. She was an inspiration to all women - an icon in her own right. She brought so much joy to millions and there are no words as to how much she will be missed." A funeral service will be held at the downtown Catholic cathedral in Los Angeles within the next few days. |
